How to Gain a Digital Education

If there is anything that drives students to excel nowadays, it is digital education. Digital Education involves using a wide variety of methods and tools that an individual can use to learn and gather information.

What Is Digital Education

I will not give up!

The best way to define digital learning education is to break down its components – digital and education. To start with, let’s define education as put forth by Oxford Dictionary:

“the process of teaching or learning in a school, or the knowledge that you get from this:

a high school/college education.

Education is also the study of methods and theories of teaching:

She has a master’s degree in early childhood education.”

So, you can break it down even further. You can teach or learn through a variety of methods and theories.

Next, let us look at the definition of digital. This is also from the “Oxford Dictionary.”

“relating to computer technology, especially the internet:

The business has invested heavily in the latest digital technology.

The digital world has tools available to a marketer that are utterly different.

So, digital education (from my point of view) is teaching or learning using multiple methods, especially through computer technology with a heavy emphasis on the internet. In other words, any good eTraining strategy should incorporate eLearning for the best results.

eLearning Education

Digital education encompasses a wide variety of terms. Let’s look at the most common.

1. Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) – TEL is used to describe the use of technology to teaching and learning. There is no concrete definition for it as it is rather broad. In short, TEL is any technology that enhances the learning experience.

TEL is often referred to as e-Learning (or eLearning) – At one point, I saw that projections estimate that the e-learning market worldwide is projected to surpass 243 billion U.S. dollars by 2022.

2. Blended Learning – Blended learning incorporates face-to-face learning where the teacher and student interact in a typical classroom. In addition to face-to-face learning though, blended learning also uses online learning. This can be done either at home or at school.

Now add in the independent study time component to complete the definition for blended learning.

3. eTraining – eTraining in the digital education world is so important because it involves digital. The definition of eTraining is providing learning or teaching with the use of electronic methods. It involves the use of a computer or other electronic device to those students who are eager to learn.

One aspect of eTraining that you should look into are B2B virtual events. Let alone that they are virtual, they are highly interactive and can even be fun.

Types of eTraining

Next on our list of talking about eTraining is the different types that digital education can be classified as. There are two types that we should briefly discuss.

a. Synchronous – This is when you take learning and teaching and combine them together. Both these methods occur in real time, and the teacher and student are separated from each other. Opposite of the advantage of the learner having the capability to take a class from any place he or she chooses is the disadvantage that the person has to find time in his schedule to be able to attend the class. This has evolved a lot with the use of Zoom and virtual classrooms.

b. Asynchronous – This means the online training is self-paced. Think of asynchronous as being able to use online audio and video along with the use of discussion forums to drive home the learning or teaching. Asynchronous is much more flexible as it allows the student to set up their own schedule when they want to learn.
